This article will guide you as how to convert Dynamics NAV 2009 forms to pages using the Transformation Tool. You can download the tool from here: TransformationTool Plus Easy One Click

It also includes an additional modified fob “177000.fob” from http://www.mibuso.com where someone has made a modification that speeds up the process, see this link FormTransformation. It adds a new button on the form transformation tool to simplify the process.

Preconditions:

You need to have NAV 2009 classic client and the Transformation tool. To test the pages you will transform you also need the RTC Client.

Import the tool:

1)  Open a classic client, go to Object Designer and import the file TIF.fob from the folder TransformationTool\TIF Editor\
2)  Create a new form in NAV, as basic as possible. For example a Card form based on the Item table, with just a few fields on it. This is the form you will convert to page.

Setting up and using the Transformation tool:

3)  From the folder \\easyoneclickformtransformation\ import the 177000.fob and overwrite the existing form 177000. Run form 177000 “Transformation Forms”

4)  Click Import -> “Import Page Type – Form Type mapping”, and select the file TransformationTool\TIF Editor\FormToPagetypeMapping.txt.

5)  Click Functions -> Get Forms. Filter on Type = Form, and ID = the new form, then click OK. This gets the form(s) that you want to transform.

6)  In the Form Type field, select “Card” (“Form with Tab Control only and a source table”). If you were upgrading lots of forms you would assess each form and choose the relevant RTC Page Type e.g. List or ListPlus or Worksheet.
Transformation:

7)  Export the settings from form 177000: Click on Export -> “Transform Pages”. You must export it to the Transformation Tool folder, and it must be called TransformPages.xml.
8)  From Object Designer, export the form (Tools -> Export) as xml. You must export it to the folder Transformation Tool, and it must be called Forms.xml.

You now have the form you want to transform, and the meta-data that tells the Tranformation Tool how to transform it.

9)  Now click the Transform! Button and your form will be converted into a page in the object designer. If the form was an existing form it will update the corresponding page in NAV.

10) If all steps ran without any errors, you have now transformed your form into a page which can be displayed in the RTC client.

This article was inspired by, although I have modified it lightky to include the updated fob for easyoneclickformtransformation from Mibuso: MSDN
